About

BIOGRAPHY
I am a professional design architect with extensive experience in detailed design development, design management and interfacing, and leading various technical consultants required on complex building construction projects. My attention to details and constructability of design has earned me a respectable reputation in the field. Since 1997 I started working on several restoration projects and new developments in the reconstruction of post-war Beirut.
My professional portfolio encompasses a variety of projects including offices, residential, commercial, industrial, religious and internal fit outs in Lebanon, Iraq, UAE, Egypt and Jordan.
I graduated in 1994 from the School of Architecture at the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts, and received my masters from the École d'Architecture de Paris-Belleville in 1996.
I taught at several architecture schools including the Lebanese American University and the American University of Beirut where I still teach at the department of Architecture and Design as a part-time senior lecturer.

VISION
My architectural concerns do not address issues of style. I departed from debates opposing classical and modern, traditional and contemporary, order and chaos, humanistic perspectives and mechanistic aesthetics. I believe there is good and bad design. The challenge in our profession is to inscribe architecture in a contextual approach, to engender durable relations and commit to nowadays-cultural and ecological responsibilities.
Moreover, I believe architecture should find ways of expressing local cultures despite the "globalisation" landslide through the construction of a sustainable and pertinent project anchored in its context avoiding nostalgia and pastiche.
Each project acquires its own identity shaped by the program and the site. Therefore, the architect's response should address both generic constraints and explicit demands, sustaining the equilibrium of relevance to client’s brief, cost, quality and time.
